We only had Alfie for 2 days or so, but we loved having him. We laughed lots, but at the same time, felt very sorry for him. In his early life as a show dog, he has been kept in a cage quite a lot. Now he is free, and is still learning how to deal with that. So when I tried to play with him, as I do with most dogs, he didn't understand and was scared of me. However David soon became his ally and he would snuggle up to him, or hide behind him where he could keep his big black eyes on me. I don't usually have this effect on dogs, honestly! I'm hoping that next time we mind him he will be a big bravey with me, and I will be gentle with him.
